Scanners are available in all Campus Libraries for university students, faculty and staff members with a student or AIX Cluster account as well as for visitors with a Visitor’s Pass (see Computer Workstations).
SFX offers direct context linking from a database to the electronic full text. The “SFX button” allows library patrons to link directly from a citation found in a database to the full text version (e-journals, e-books …) provided the document is licensed for use by the University Library. For documents not available electronically, SFX links its users to alternative scholarly services or provides information on the availability of the text in other formats, as well as the possibility of ordering a copy.
Specialized information can be received from the Library’s subject librarians.
The Perinorm database, licensed by the University Library for use on campus, provides access to DIN Standards and VDI-Guidelines in full text form (exception: DIN Standards with VDE classification). As a bibliographic database the Perinorm can also be used to search for standards, technical, legal and administrative regulations of over 200 standards publishing organizations in 18 countries (such as ANSI, DIN, ISO). As the database contains only valid standards in full text, all standards recalled before the year 2008 are available in print form in the Central Library (Bldg. 32). Valid as well as recalled DIN norms with VDE classification (DIN-VDE) are also available in the Central Library.
