University Library in a nutshell

The University Library of the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau provides vital support for students, researchers and staff, complementing academic activities. The library provides access to the world of information and gives support and training to exploid its resources. The library is open to all interested members of the public on production of appropiate proof of identity (walk in use is free).

The library focuses on a lot of subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, mechanical and process engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, spatial and environmental planning, civil engineering, economics and social sciences. The emphasis of the social sciences is on  political science (with history and law), philosophy, psychology, sociology and educational sciences.

The liberary collections are rich in resources. There is access to about 800.000 print media, 24.000 e-journals and 80.000 e-books.

As an information center the Central Library has numerous electronic media and approximately 30.000 bibliographies, biographies and general reference works. Most of this sources are freely accessible. You can borrow parts of the specialist literature, magazined collections (e.g. dissertations) and the textbooks in the same building (32) with approx. 68.000 volumes in the textbook collection.

The departmental libraries contain subject specific literature required for research, teaching and studying in the individual departments. Most of these holdings can be borrowed.
