University library for Guests

The University Library Kaiserslautern is open to members of other research and educational institutions as well as anyone interested in our collections.

Registration

Registration is only required for book lending and interlibrary loan orders. To get a library card you have to present a valid identity card or passport. Registration is chargeable and possible for everyone.

Special service: In order to avoid waiting time and to facilitate registration, the form is also available online and can be filled in on the computer, printed and presented in the central library or in a department library.

The study rooms of the library

Guests are welcome in the University Library. An overview of study rooms and behavior in the library can be found here.

Lockers

In the central library (building 32) you need a guest card to deposit your bags. Please ask our staff at the landing desk. In the department libraries you will receive a key for a locker upon request. Baskets are provided in each library to transport your documents.

Location & opening times

The library is a decentralized system. It has got 8 locations on campus.

Newspapers

The departmental library of social sciences offers a selection of german and international newspapers.

Information for students of the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern

Members of the University of Applied Sciences can register for free in the UB. After personal registration the student or staff smart card of your institution will be activated as a library card. Please fill out the registration form in advance.

You can also use your smart card in the central library for the use of the lockers.

To use our WiFi on campus, connect to the campus network of the TU via the network access eduroam using your university ID.

Information about Internet access for members of other research and educational institutions

If your institution supports the roaming service eduroam, you can connect to the internet at the University of Kaiserslautern.
